ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's lacrosse team fell to visiting St. John Fisher College 20-2 Saturday afternoon at Yunevich Stadium in Empire 8 action.
The Saxons (3-10, 0-6) were led offensively by senior
Megan Wendt (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) as she scored both goals.
The Cardinals opened up the game scoring six goals until Wendt capitalized on her free position attempt to put the Saxons on the board at the 21:24 mark of the first half. The Cardinal scored the next four goals until Wendt scored the team's final goal with 1:51 remaining in the first half.
St. John Fisher held the advantage in shots (39-5), turnovers (12-15), ground balls (23-12) as wells as draw controls (22-2).
Junior
Miranda Gilbert (Watertown, NY/Watertown) led the team with six ground balls as well as caused turnovers with two.
Junior
Shannon Gray (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) went the distance in net, making 12 saves on 32 shots faced.
The Saxons are in action next Wednesday, April 26
th, for their senior game against Empire 8 foe Houghton College at 7 p.m.
