Alfred loses to #10 Ithaca College in men’s lacrosse action

ITHACA, NY – The Alfred University men's lacrosse team lost against #10 Ithaca College 20-9 Saturday afternoon in Empire 8 action.
 
The Saxons (5-7, 1-5 Empire 8) were led offensively by senior Derek Bishopp (Livonia, NY/Livonia) with three goals and junior Jake Lynch (Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point) with two goals and an assist. Senior Nick Skibitsky (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville East) finished with a goal and an assist.
 
Alfred got on the board first as Skibitsky was able to find Bishopp just 1:30 into the game. The Bombers would then score the next eight goals, spanning from the 11:11 mark in the first to the 10:46 mark in the second. The Saxons would cut the deficit to four after going on a three run goal of their own. Alfred would trail 9-4 going into halftime.
 
Ithaca ran away with the game in the third frame as they outscored Alfred, 10-1, making the score 19-5 heading into the final quarter. The Saxons' lone goal came from Skibitsky at the 3:52 mark.
 
The Saxons were led defensively by senior Jimmy Pratti (Slatehill, NY/Minisink Valley) with six ground balls while junior David LaSpina (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) finished with four. Senior Patrick Dupree (Corning, NY/Corning Painted Post East) led the team in caused turnover with two.
 
Time in net was split with junior Drew Gardner (Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point) picking up the loss. Gardner made four saves on 10 shots face. Junior Chris Bucciarelli (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) made two saves on six shots faced while junior Chris Doktor (Irondequoit, NY/Eastridge) made 11 saves on 21 shots faced.
 
The Saxons are next in action on Wednesday, April 26th, as they take on Houghton College at 4 p.m.
