ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's lacrosse team hosted Hartwick College on Saturday afternoon at Yunevich Stadium and fell, 22-2.
Both of the goals for the Saxons (2-5,0-2 Empire 8) came in the second half as junior
Miranda Gilbert (Watertown, NY/Watertown) and senior
Tracy Johnston (Akron, NY/Akron) both found the back of the net. Gilbert's goal was converted off a free position attempt.
The Hawks had the advantage when it came to shots on goal with 33 compared to Alfred's four. Also, Hartwick held the advantage in draw controls coming away with 17 to the Saxons' nine.
Johnston led the team in ground balls as she finished with three while Gilbert and junior goalie
Shannon Gray (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) had two apiece.
Hartwick was led by
Lauren Rosenberg who had seven points (three goals, four assists) along with
Ashley Werner (five goals, one assist) and
Hailey Pooler (three goals, three assists) who each had six points.
Gray went the distance in net earning the loss while facing 33 shots and making 11 saves.
Ashley Jablonowski picked up the win for Hartwick, making one save as she split time with
Carleigh Tarala who made one save and allowed two goals during the second half.
The Saxons have a quick turnaround as the host Stevens Institute of Technology tomorrow, April 2
nd, at 12 p.m.
