PORT CHARLOTTE, FL -- The Alfred University women's lacrosse team opened its 2017 season in Port Charlotte, FL, Monday morning against Kean University and lost 19-1.

After falling behind early, 2-0, Alfred got its lone goal 3:47 into the contest on an unassisted tally by senior attack Megan Wendt (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island).

Junior Shannon Gray (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) went the distance in goal for the Saxons and made 11 saves.

Alfred wraps up its two-game Spring Break trip to Florida on Wednesday, March 8, at 10 a.m. against Bridgewater (MA) State.
