ALFRED, NY -- For the second time in her inaugural season, first year Alfred University women's basketball guard
Jamie Wilcox (Forestville, NY/Pine Valley) has been named the Empire 8 Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Jamie earned the Empire 8 honors at the beginning of the month on February 6, just months after her twin sister,
Jessica Wilcox (Forestville, NY/Pine Valley), had earned it while she was on the team on November 28, 2016 (now currently serving on the softball team at Alfred University).
Jamie and the Saxons played a two-game week to close out the regular season, having earned their second Empire 8 win with the overtime 83-78 victory on the road in the season finale at Houghton College on Saturday. In the contest, Jamie scored a career-high 27 points, making 10-of-21 shots from the floor (.476) including three 3-pointers and going 4-of-7 from the free throw line. She also added five rebounds, three assists and three steals on the day. On Tuesday, she finished with 14 points and added three rebounds, five assists and a career-tying six steals on the evening against Elmira College.
Jamie finishes her first collegiate season with 307 points, 49 steals, 88 rebounds, 66 steals, 31 3-pointers and 20 starts. She averaged 12.8 points per game, 2.04 steals per game, 2.75 assists per game and 3.7 rebounds per game. Jamie finished second on the team in points, points per game, assists, assists per game and most field goals. She led the Saxons in 3-pointers and steals while being third in offensive rebounds (32).
