ONEONTA, NY – First-year guard
Jamie Wilcox (Forestville, NY/Pine Valley) leads all scorers with 18 points as the Alfred University women's basketball team road loss to Hartwick College, 78-53 Friday evening.
Wilcox got a bulk of her points coming from beyond the arc as she went 4-for-8. Senior forward
Amanda Off (New Berlin, NY/Unadilla Valley) had another solid outing as she scored 11 points to go along with seven rebounds. Sophomore guard
Katlyn Boland (New York, NY/A. Phillip Randolph) was active on the defensive end as she collect seven rebounds to go along with one offensive rebound.
The Hawk were led by
Caitlin Corbett,
Jacqui Foreman and
Sarah Shaw as they each scored 13 points, respectively.
The Saxons (2-12, 0-5 Empire 8) started the game off getting in the scoring column first as first-year guard
Demetria Woodard (Macedon, NY/Rueben A. Cirillo) knocked down the jumper as
Boland picked up the assist. The Hawk would take the lead halfway through the first quarter as
Corbett converted on the layup to give them a 7-6 advantage as they finished the quarter on a 9-0 run. Alfred would cut into the lead as
Wilcox would get them within five after her made three with 5:53 left to play in the half. Hartwick took a 31-20 lead into halftime as they went on an 11-5 run.
Hartwick held the advantage in second chance points, 14-10, as well as points in the paint, 34-24.
Alfred has a quick turnaround as they travel to play Steven College Saturday, January 14
th, at 2 p.m.
