ALFRED, NY -- Tyler Johnson (East Syracuse, NY / East Syracuse-Minoa) of the Alfred University football team was selected as the Empire 8 Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Johnson led the Saxons to a solid 34-10 victory during the Empire 8 opener against Buffalo State. The senior quarterback had 19 rushing attempts for 92 yards with four touchdowns. Johnson was one rushing touchdown away from tying the school record. He also made 61% of his pass attempts for 160 yards with his longest being a 25-yard pass to Rodney Etienne. 

Johnson and the Saxons will next host Ithaca College on Saturday, September 24 at 1:00 pm. Saturday's game is homecoming.
