YouTube Recap | Play of the Week

ALFRED, NY—Senior Sarach Kichman (Portville, NY/Portville) led the Saxons with 12 points in a 68-61 loss at home in the Terry Galanis Family Arena in her last contest at Alfred University.

Junior Amanda Off (New Berlin, NY/Unadilla Valley) and sophomore McKaylee Croll (Perry, NY/Perry) also scored 12 points each for AU. Sophomore Taylor Kelley (Andover, NY/Andover) led the Saxons with eight rebounds while Off and freshman Katlyn Boland (New York, NY/A. Phillip Randolp) had seven rebounds each. Boland eclipsed her career mark in points (10) and rebounds in the matchup.

The defense for both teams stood up in the first half with AU holding the Soaring Eagles to 28.21% shooting and Elmira held the Saxons to 20.83% shooting. The Soaring Eagles took a 27-21 lead into the second half, with Danielle Cleary leading in scoring with 12 points.

By the end of the third quarter the Saxons found themselves in a 16-point hold, down 51-35. However, the persevering Saxons whittled away, bringing the game within five with 28 seconds to go in the game after Croll nailed a deep three. Immediately following the made shot, the Saxons forced a turnover, but were unable to capitalize on the opportunity. Now with time waning away AU began to foul to manage the clock. However, the Soaring Eagles made both their free-throws and put the game just out of reach, up seven points, 68-61, where the game would finish.

Kelley finished the afternoon with nine points for the Saxons. The Soaring Eagles were paced by Danielle Cleary with 24 points and Meghan Loya with 12 points.

The Saxons finished their season with a 2-23 (E8 1-15) record.
