ROCHESTER, NY – Sophomore forward Sage Brown (Cortland, NY/Cortland) scores 20 points off the bench as Alfred University loses to RIT by the score of 81-68 Tuesday evening.
 
Brown went 6-of-9 shooting from the field in the second half as well as 6-of-9 from the free throw line. Junior guard Nick Schmidt (Olean, NY/Olean) chipped in 12 points to go along with three rebounds for the Saxons (3-4, E8 0-0).
 
Mitch Herman lead the Tigers with 21 points and nine rebounds, respectively.
 
Alfred found themselves down early as RIT opened up to a 13-2 lead five minutes into the game. Senior guard Tyler Seelman (Lorton, VA / Hayfield Secondary) cashed in on a three point shot to cut the lead to eight. The Tigers held the lead going into halftime, 41-25.
 
RIT extend their lead to as many as 16 points in the second half. Schmidt connected on the three point shot at the 5:20 mark to cut the lead 10. RIT ended the game on a 11-8 run.
 
The Saxons controlled the paint as they outscored RIT, 30-20. Alfred dominated in points of turnovers, 22-7, and had another strong showing from the bench as they outscored RIT's, 40-35.
 
The Saxons go in hiatus before heading out California as they take on Cal Lutheran Thursday, December 29^th, in the opening round of the Thrivent Financial Tournament with tip-off being at 5 p.m.
