FREDONIA, NY – The Alfred University women's basketball team lost to host SUNY Fredonia by the score of 77-40.
 
Amanda Off (New Berlin, NY/ Unadilla Valley) led all scorers for Alfred with 14 points as well as rebounds with nine. Jamie Wilcox (Forestville, NY/ Pine Valley) chipped in with 10 points and six rebounds. Jacque Law led all scorers for Fredonia with 19 points and Alexis Cheatham added 17 points, respectively.
 
The Saxons (2-7, E8 0-0) opened up strong as first-year guard Demetria Woodard (Macedon, NY/Rueben A. Cirillo) converted on the layup just over a minute into the game. Fredonia would close the quarter on a 13-6 run. Fredonia extended its lead by as many as 11 points but Alfred would cut it to within five as sophomore guard Katlyn Boland (New York, NY/ A. Phillip Randolph) made the layup attempt to make the score 23-18 midway through the second. Fedonia would take a 35-28 lead going into halftime.
 
The Blue Devils opened the game up coming into the second half as they went on a 27-3 run. Fredonia outscored Alfred, 39-13 in the second half.
 
Alfred held the advantage in second chance points, 11-8, as Fredonia had the advantage in bench points scored, 21-8.
 
Alfred is in action next Tuesday, January 3^rd, as they take on host Ithaca College to open up Empire 8 play at 6 p.m.
