BRADFORD, PA – The Alfred University men's swimming and diving team evened its 2016-17 dual meet record at 1-1 with a 117-88 victory at Pitt-Bradford Friday evening.
The Saxons got victories in five individual events, including two each by junior
Alec Toth (Lockport, NY/Starpoint) and freshman
Andrew Edmister (Belmont, NY/Genesee Valley). Edmister also led off and Toth anchored the Saxons' win in the 400 medley relay.
Toth took first in the 200 freestyle (1:54.13) and 500 free (5:08.08) and Edmister won the 50 free (23.24) and 200 backstroke (2:05.11). Sophomore
Richard Berger (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz) earned AU's other win, in the 200 breaststroke (2:22.98).
Other top performers for AU included: junior
Michael Guarglia (Hornell, NY/Hornell), second in the 1,650 free (19:06.57); junior
Joe Lawrence (Clarence Center, NY/Clarence), second in the 100 free (52.44); and freshman
Michael Goodrich (Cheshire, CT/Cheshire), second in the 200 breast (2:25.34).
The team of Edmister, Berger, Lawrence and Toth won the 400 medley relay in 3:43.95.
AU is in action next on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 1 p.m., when the Saxons host a tri-meet with Rochester and Fredonia.
