ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University men's soccer team defeated Elmira College in double overtime, 2-1 Saturday night in Empire 8 play.
The Soaring Eagles got out to an early lead as midfielder
Tony Barraco was able to take advantage of the penalty kick in the 11
th minute.
The Saxons (8-7-2,2-3-2 E8) came back and answered in the 26
th minute as forward/ midfielder
Alexander Tostanoski (Corning, NY / Corning Painted-Pos) set up senior midfielder
Richard Lander (Narrowsburg, NY / Sullivan West) with the goal to tie the game. 1-1.
Both teams battled hard as the game ended up going into double overtime. With just :29 remaining in the game, senior midfielder
Aiden Calkins (Oakland, ME / Messalonskee) hit the walk off goal for the win.
The Saxons dominated in shots, 27-6, as well as corner kicks, 8-1.

Chris Gutierrez ( Holbrook, NY / Sachem East) made one save in the win.
Jordan Hodloski made six saves in the loss for the Soaring Eagles.
The Saxons finish the regular season 8-7-2 and finished 2-3-2 in the Empire 8.
