ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University men's swimming and diving team opened its 2016-17 season against visiting Nazareth College Saturday and lost 140-92.
AU opened the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay. Freshman
Andy Edmister (Belmont, NY/Genesee Valley), sophomore
Richard Berger (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz), junior
Joseph Lawrence (Clarence Center, NY/Clarence) and senior
Patrick Brown (Olean, NY/Olean) won the race in 1:39.65.
Edmister was second in the 50 free (23.02) and 100 back (56.73); junior
Alec Toth (Lockport, NY/Starpoint) was second in the 200 free (1:53.24) and 500 free (5:12.20); and Lawrence was second in the 100 fly (54.50); and sophomore
Gabriel Smith (Campbell, NY/Campbell-Savona) took second in in 3-meter diving (126.65points). He was second in 1-meter diving (144.80).

Andrew Grant (Akron, NY/Akron) and Toth took second in the 200 free relay in 1:34.70).
