ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 decision in double overtime to visiting Waynesburg University Saturday afternoon at Yunevich Stadium.
 
Nikki Davis's unassisted goal 32 seconds into the second extra frame was the game–winner for the Yellowjackets, who improved to 2-0 on the season.
 
The teams were evenly matched throughout, as Waynesburg held a slight 13-11 edge in shots and 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
 
AU sophomore goalie Sammy Jo Shanahan (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream South) went the distance in net for AU, making three saves in 100:32 of action. Ciara Scott and Heather Fraser split time in goal for Waynesburg, combining for five saves.
 
Alfred (0-2) is in action against on Sunday, Sept. 6,at 3:30 p.m. at home against Wells.
