ALFRED, NY—The Alfred University women's soccer team was defeated by Oswego State, 4-1, at Yunevich Stadium on Tuesday evening.
 
The Saxons (1-8-1, E8 0-2-0) had three shots in the contest; all coming from sophomore Lauren Wyant (Jasper, NY/Jasper-Troupsburg).  Wyant had opportunities in the 9^th, 58^th, and 76^th minute but was unsuccessful to put the shots on goal.
 
The Lakers scored in the 11^th, 17^th, and 43^rd minutes in the first half to grab an early lead, 3-0.  However, in the second half, a strong defensive showing by AU held the Oswego to only one goal. 
 
Sophomore Sammy Jo Shanahan (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream South) tied her career-high mark in saves with 18 on the night. 
 
The Saxons return to action on Saturday October 3^rd when they travel to SUNY Canton to take on the Kangaroos.  AU topped Canton 7-1 during the 2014 season.
