SCRANTON, PA—The Alfred University women's soccer team fell 2-1 in overtime against Marywood University in Scranton, PA in the first round of the Joe Bochicchio tournament.

Marywood was the first team on the board scoring at in the 19
th minute when Julie Youngman headed the ball down the field to teammate Ashley Kruchinsky who knocked the ball into the upper right ninety of the goal to grab the lead. The Saxons shot four times in the first half, putting one shot on goal. Junior
Mariana Crevison (Scottsville, NY/Wheatland-Chili) was credited with the shot.

Heading into halftime the Pacers held a 1-0 advantage over AU.Â

It didn't take the Saxons long to even out the scoreboard in the second half, scoring in the 61
st minute. Freshman
Alyssa Garbarino (Merrick, NY/Sanford H. Calhoun) sent a long ball down the field to Crevison who took advantage of the breakaway opportunity for her first goal of the season.

Both teams had multiple chances to break the tie at the end of regulation, however neither offense managed to sneak a shot past the opposing keeper. As the end of regulation came to a close the game remained tied, 1-1.

Both offenses managed a shot on goal in the first overtime. AU's chance came by way of freshman
Morgan Grice (Andover, NY/Andover Central). Once again, both goalies parried the shots away and kept their teams in the game. Finally in the 102
nd minute of the game the Pacers broke the tie on a Megan Swiecicki goal.

Sophomore
Sammy Jo Shanahan (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream South) played the entire game in goal for the Saxons, making eight saves. Aly Moyer was in goal for Marywood, making four saves.

AU (1-3-1, E8 0-0-0) looks to bounce back on Sunday against the University of Scranton at 1PM.
