ITHACA, NY—The Alfred University men's lacrosse team was beaten by the the host Ithaca College Bombers, 19-9, Wednesday afternoon.

Freshman attack
Jake Lynch (Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point) spearheaded the AU attack with 3 goals in the game. Sophomore
Derek Bishopp (Livonia, NY/Livonia) and junior
Tanner Morse (Corning, NY/Corning East) scored two goals each. With the loss, AU falls to 11-3 overall and 403 in Empire 8 play.

Nick Skibitsky (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville East) had two assists while Morse, Bishopp and senior
Nicolas Wood (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) added one assist.Â

Keenan Denis (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) paced AU with eight groundballs. Bishopp added six groundballs in the contest and
Eric Kwietniewski (Williamsville, NY/Williamsvills East) nabbed four. Sophomore
Patrick DuPree (Corning, NY/Corning East) had three caused turnovers, leading AU in the category.

Ithaca opened the scoring in the game, hitting the back of the net 2:16 into the game. Bishopp quickly erased the deficit, scoring less than three minutes later for his 20
th goal of the season. Ithaca rattled off back-to-back goals in a four-minute period, but Lynch broke through the defense to net his first goal of the afternoon. The Bombers would grab two more goals before the end of the first quarter.

Ithaca carried its momentum from the first, into the second period, quickly chalking up two more goals. Lynch broke up the run of four goals with his second goal of the contest, just over the halfway mark in the second quarter, bringing the Saxons within four goals, 7-3. IC would increase its lead again, but AU's Wood jumped into the scoring column and erased the increased advantage to bring the game back within four goals, 8-4.

Over the last four minutes of the first half, the teams went back and forth, but the Bombers got the last word with a goal with 37 seconds to go in the quarter. Ithaca would hold a 10-5 advantage at the intermission.Â

AU was the first on the board in the second half when Lynch completed his hat trick for the 9
th time on the season. However, the Bombers answered with six more goals to increase the lead, 16-6. AU finally broke up the run when Bishopp found the back of the net for the second time in the game. The Bombers score with four seconds left in the third quarter to put a little more cushion into their lead.Â

The Saxons looked to fight back within reach, scoring back-to-back early in the fourth quarter, but IC quickly grabbed two more goals to finalize the score, 19-9.

Freshman
Drew Gardner (Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point) was in goal for 45 minutes for AU, making nine saves. Senior
Tyler Beyor (Carthage, NY/Carthage) played 15 minutes, stopping one shot.

The Saxons close out the regular season, Sat. April 25, when they travel to Oneonta, NY to take on Empire 8 foe, Hartwick College at 1PM.
