Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Brandon Harrison

Trio of juniors lead Saxons over WolfPack, 70-58

Adams earns third double-double of 2015

KEUKA PARK, NY—Juniors Tyler Seelman (Lorton, VA/Hayfield Secondary), Julian Reinhart (Hornell, NY/Hornell) and Eric Adams (Lebanon, NJ/Hunterdon Central) each scored double-digits in a 70-58 win over Keuka College on the road Tuesday evening in Keuka Park, NY.

Seelman paced the Saxons (3-1, E8 0-0) in the game with 17 points while Reinhart and Adams had 15 and 14 points, respectively.  Adams led the Saxons on the boards with 13 rebounds, earning his third double-double of the season.

The first half of the non-conference matchup was an earnest struggle as both teams vied to hold onto a lead.  The first half alone saw eight lead changes and four ties while the Wolf Pack held the largest advantage in the first stanza with a five-point lead with 2:05 left in the half.  The Saxons quickly wiped the deficit away bringing the game within one, 28-27, at the intermission.

Reinhart spearheaded the AU offense in the first half accumulating 10 of his 15 points over just 11 minutes.  The Saxons shot 11-of-34 (34.4%) from inside the arc and 4-of-5 from the charity stripe as a team.

By the 17:33 mark in the second half the Saxons earned back the lead for the fifth time on the night, and would not have to fight for that right again holding off Keuka for the remainder of the game.

With 7:35 left in the matchup the Saxons held a 46-45 edge and quickly rattled off five points to earn a six-point lead (51-45) with 6:39 to go.  Down the last 2:12 of the game, the Saxons shot lights out from the free throw line, hitting 12-of-14 (85.7%) shots.

Junior Nigel Herbert (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) led the Saxons with three assists to complement his five points on 1-of-2 shooting.  Sophomore Tristin Hook (Red Bank, NJ/Middletown North) added five rebounds to the AU effort.

The Saxons shot 23-of-63 (36.5%) on the night and hit 21-of-31 (67.7%) of their free throws while taking advantage of turnovers, outscoring the Wolf Pack 18-9 on turnovers.  AU also held an edge in points in the paint (34-24) and fast break points (16-9).

The Saxons are off for the holiday, but travel to Hilbert on Saturday November 28, to take on the Hawks at 2PM.
