ALFRED, NY—Freshman Chanice Battle (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood) has been named the Empire 8 Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week following her performance against Wells College and Mount Saint Mary's College (NY).
 
Though the Saxons (0-2, E8 0-0) failed to earn a win in their two games, Battle shined in her two first appearances as a member of the Alfred University women's basketball team.  She scored eight points against the Express and eclipsed that mark with 15 against MSMC.  Battle also collected eight rebounds, five steals, and two assists over the two games.
 
Alfred University is off until Saturday November 21, when they travel to Hamburg, NY to take on D'Youville College at 2PM.
