ALFRED, NY — Dalton Walsh (Stockton, NY/Cassadaga Valley), a senior forward on the Alfred University men's basketball team, has been named Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week.
                
Walsh was honored for his play in three Empire 8 Conference home games last week, in which Saxons beat Elmira and Houghton and lost to Utica. He averaged 19.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in the three games, shooting 68 percent from the floor (21 of 31) and 64 percent from the free throw line.
                
Walsh is third in the Empire 8 in scoring (17.8 points per game) and rebounding (9.2 per game) and is second in blocked shots (1.9 per game).
                
AU (9-4 overall, 302 Empire 8) is in action next on Friday, Jan. 16, at 8 p.m. at Empire 8 foe Nazareth College.
