Box Score ALFRED, NY- The Alfred University women's basketball team was swept by St. John Fisher for the season with a 71-59 loss, Saturday evening at the McLane Center.
Both teams traded baskets throughout the first half of play, but St. John Fisher claimed a 33-30 lead at halftime.
An early second half run helped the Cardinals to a 16-point lead (54-38) with 8:55 remaining in the contest. This lead proved to be too much for the Lady Saxons to overcome, and only came as close as eight points as time expired.
Senior guard
Rachael Stedman (Hamburg, NY/Springville Griffith) paced AU with 14 points (six-of-eight shooting from the field), while junior guard
Harley Cleary (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) scored 13 points, and junior forward
Lyndsay Drummond (Ogdensburg, NY/Ogdensburg) added 11 points. Sophomore forward
Hailey Sick (Dansville, NY/Dansville) grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
Cleary reached a career milestone during the match, surpassing the 1000
th point mark, placing her at 1,008 total career points as a Lady Saxon.
AU (6-17, 1-11 Empire 8) plays their final road game of the season against Nazareth on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 8 p.m.
