WASHINGTON, DC -- The Alfred University men's basketball team won the Gallaudet University tournament Saturday, defeating the host team 68-48 in the title game. Sophomore guard
Tyler Seelman (Lorton, VA/Hayfield Secondary) made eight three-point shots en route to scoring 30 points and earning tournament MVP honors,. Seelman was joined on the all-tournament team by senior forward
Dalton Walsh (Stockton, NY/Cassadaga Valley) and sophomore guard
Julian Reinhart (Hornell, NY/Hornell).The first half started out with both teams struggling to maintain a lead, but the Saxons were finally able to grab the lead and hold onto it. By the half the Saxons were up by 13 over the Bisons.

By the second half, the high energy of the Saxons was too much for Gallaudet to handle and the rout was on. With 13:21 to go in the game AU was well on their way to victory, winning by 31. The massive deficit was too much to handle for the Bisons and the Saxons coasted to victory, 68-48.

Walsh added his usual flair to the game with 13 points, nine rebounds, and 5 assists. On the night the Saxons shot 24-of-60 (40%) from the field and hit a staggering 13 3PT shots. Additionally, the Saxons had no issues at the charity stripe making 7-of-8 (87.5%).Â

The Saxons now go on a short hiatus before traveling to Bradford, PA on December 30
th where they will take on the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.Â
