Box Score ALFRED, NY — Alfred University football players
Trevor Monk (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) and
A.J. Licata (Lake View, NY/Frontier) have each earned weekly honors from the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).
Monk, a freshman placekicker, was named ECAC Northwest Co-Special Team Player of the Week, while Licata, a freshman outside linebacker, was named ECAC Northwest Rookie of the Week. Both were honored for their play in the Saxons' 23-21 come-from-behind victory at Empire 8 foe Salisbury University on Saturday, Nov. 1.
Monk, who earlier this week was named Empire 8 Special Teams Player of the Week, connected on a 22-yard field goal as time expired to complete the Saxons' rally. He shares the ECAC weekly honors with St. Lawrence's James Holley-Grisham.
Licata had six tackles (two for loss) and forced two fumbles in the Saxon victory. His first forced fumble came at the AU 10-yard line early in the second quarter, stifling a Salisbury drive. He also disrupted a Salisbury pitch play midway through the fourth, which resulted in a Sea Gull fumble deep in AU territory, setting up the Saxons' 16-play, 72-yard game-winning drive.
Alfred (5-3, 3-3 Empire 8) plays next on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 6 p.m. at Utica.
