Box Score HOUGHTON, NY-  The Alfred University women's basketball team lost a close 71-70 decision to Houghton College, Friday evening on the road.
           
Houghton led 37-35 at halftime, despite the seven points scored by junior guard Harley Cleary (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) for the Lady Saxons.
           
The Highlanders held an 11-point lead with 2:39 left in regulation. Senior guard Racheal Stedman (Hamburg, NY/Springville Griffith) hit a three-point shot to tie the game with 0:23 left in the game, but a Houghton foul shot gave them the advantage to seal the win as time expired.
           
Senior forward Sarah Federico (Buffalo, NY/Holy Angels) posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, and sophomore forward Hailey Sick (Dansville, NY/Dansville) added 15 points as well.

Alfred (5-10, 0-6 Empire 8) returns to action on Friday, Jan. 25, at 4 p.m. against St. John Fisher.
