ALFRED, NY — The Alfred University men's swimming and diving team defeated visiting Pitt-Bradford, 116-60, Saturday afternoon at Lebohner Pool.
The Alfred men (2-2) got wins in eight of nine individual events and won both relays. Junior
David Coombes (Dansville, NY/Dansville), senior
Pete Sowinski (Akron, NY/Akron) and junior
Zac Toth (Lockport, NY/Starpoint) each won two events to lead the Saxon men. Coombes won the 1,000 freestyle (10:42.41) and 200 backstroke (2:07.56); Sowinski won the 100 free (49.48) and 200 free (1:50.41); and Toth won the 400 IM (4:25.92) and 500 free (5:07.46).
Other winners for the AU men were: junior
David Luke (Ocala, FL/West Port) in the 50
free (22.26), and senior
Terry Soto (Mt. Morris, NY/Mt. Morris) in the 200 breaststroke (2:30.66).
The team of sophomore Jake Olsen (Dansville, NY/Dansville), Soto, senior Jake Giglio (Hornell, NY/Hornell) and Luke won the 200 medley relay in 1:43.30, while freshman Patrick Brown (Olean, NY/Olean), junior Joseph Rogers (Dublin, NH), sophomore Sheldon Vosburgh (Canajoharie, NY/Canajoharie) and freshman Dave Dombrowski (Angola, NY/Lake Shore) won the 200 free relay in 1:33.78.
The Saxons are in action next on Dec. 6-8 at the Ithaca Invitational.
