Gonzalez took first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:57.01 at RIT, defeating the rest of the field by over four seconds and won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:07.79, almost 10 seconds ahead of the next-closest finisher. He also finished second in the second 100-yard breaststroke with a 59:11, just shy of the winning time of 59.06.
