ALFRED, NY — Ivan Capitan-Carro (Baynot, Spain), a senior midfielder on the Alfred University men's soccer team, has been named the AU Male Athlete of the Week.
                
Capitan-Carro was honored for his play in the Saxons' lone game last week, a 5-4 comeback win over visiting Empire 8 foe Nazareth on Saturday in which he scored three goals. His second goal of the game, with 8:33 left in regulation, knotted the score at 4-4. His third tally, with 5:54 remaining, proved to be the game winner. Capitan-Carro was also named the Empire 8 Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
                
AU (5-4-0, 1-1-0 Empire 8) is in action next on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. at home against conference rival St. John Fisher.
