Junior Miranda Sakala was undefeated, yet again, on the week as she helped the Saxons punch their ticket to the Empire 8 Conference Tournament for the first time since 2014. Sakala and the Saxons defeated the Houghton College Highlanders on Tuesday, 7-2 on the road to secure a spot in the playoffs. She was undefeated in singles action and went 1-1 in doubles on the two-match week. First, she teamed with Rachel Pera at No. 3 doubles against Houghton for an 8-7(9-7) win. She then won at No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-2 to go 2-0 on the day. Sakala was the lone point for the Saxons against Empire 8 #1 Nazareth College on Sunday as she won at No. 5 singles 6-4, 6-2.
