Senior third base Liz Thompson opened her final season in purple and gold the right way as she earned five RBI’s during the Saxons’ 6-4 win over Mount Union on Sunday. She went 3-for-4 in the game with a two RBI homer in the bottom of the third that scored junior Shannon Schaefer. Thompson then sent first year Jillian Murray across home plate off a bunt single to give AU a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth. She would then cross home herself off a Haley Powers single up the middle for the 4-0 lead. Mount Union tied the game 4-4 in just the top of the seventh. Thompson had the walk-off home run with one out in the bottom of the seventh after Becca Alexander hit her first collegiate triple. Thompson added a 1-for-2 performance in the Saxons’ loss to John Carroll with one stolen base.
