ALFRED, NY--Senior Alison Wickwire (Towanda, PA/Towanda) has been named the Alfred University Female Athlete of the Week.
The senior pitcher-first baseman from Towanda, PA, hit four homeruns (two of them grand slams), scored nine runs and drove in nine as the softball team swept Empire 8 Conference doubleheaders from Utica and Ithaca last week. Wickwire also earned complete-game pitching wins in the openers of both doubleheaders, striking out a total of 10 batters. She earned Player of the Week honors from both the Empire 8 and ECAC.
Wickwire and the Saxons return to the field Fri. April 17, to take on Empire 8 opponent Elmira College in Elmira, NY.
