Two-time MAC Commonwealth Coach of the Year, Rob Nydick, joins Alfred University as a volunteer assistant for the 2025 season. He will assist the Saxons with data analytics and team training.
Â
Nydick brings extensive experience to the program, having served as the head men’s soccer coach at Arcadia University for nine seasons. During his tenure, he led the Knights to a 75-61-17 (.546) overall record—second-most wins in program history—and a 30-24-9 (.548) record in MAC Commonwealth play. Under his leadership, Arcadia recorded seven winning seasons and made six postseason appearances.
Â
Over the course of his time at Arcadia, Nydick’s players earned 27 All-MAC Commonwealth selections, including eight First-Team honorees. In 2015, he coached Bradley McKim to NSCAA All-Region honors and Ryan Hammer to both MAC Commonwealth and ECAC Rookie of the Year recognition.
Â
Nydick made an immediate impact in his first season at Arcadia in 2009, turning around a 6-12-0 team from the previous year to a 12-6-3 finish. That turnaround earned him MAC Commonwealth Coach of the Year honors. The Knights finished second in the league and reached the conference title game, with four players named All-Conference, including three First-Team selections.
Â
Arcadia’s strong performance continued throughout his tenure:
-
2010: 11-8-0 overall, 5-2-0 in conference (3rd place); three All-Conference selections, including Third-Team All-Region defender Jeff McDonald.
-
2015: Posted an 11-7-3 record and earned the program’s first ECAC Tournament berth; six players named All-Conference, including First-Team selection Bradley McKim.
-
2016: Went 9-8-4, advanced to the MAC Commonwealth semifinals, and made a second straight ECAC Tournament appearance; three players named All-Conference, with McKim also earning Second-Team All-ECAC honors.
-
2017: Finished 13-6-2, reached the MAC Commonwealth semifinals again, and made a third consecutive ECAC Tournament appearance.
During the 2016 and 2017 seasons, Nydick worked alongside current Alfred University Head Coach Garret Eldridge. Together, they helped guide Arcadia to two of the most successful seasons in program history, including two MAC Commonwealth semifinal appearances and two ECAC bids. The team compiled a combined record of 22-14-6 during those two years, capped by 13 wins in their final season together.
Â
Prior to his time at Arcadia, Nydick served as the first assistant at Stevens Institute of Technology in 2008, helping the Ducks win the Empire 8 Championship and reach the NCAA Division III Championship Game for the first time in program history.
Â
As a player, Nydick began his collegiate career at North Carolina Wesleyan before transferring to East Stroudsburg University, where he played three seasons. He was a key contributor on the Warriors' 2002 PSAC Championship team that advanced to the NCAA Division II Quarterfinals and was also part of ESU’s 2001 NCAA tournament squad.
Â
Nydick holds a bachelor's degree in Physical Education (2003) and a master’s in Sport Management (2004), both from East Stroudsburg University. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and is an active member of United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA). He holds an Advanced National Diploma from United Soccer Coaches and is a licensed coach with the U.S. Soccer Federation.
Â
He currently resides in Oreland, Pa., with his wife, Diana, and their sons, Henry and William.
