Bassage was promoted to Assistant Baseball/Strength & Conditioning Coach in September 2024.
Prior to joining AU, Bassage spent time as the modified baseball coach and assistant varsity coach at his alma mater, Hornell High School. He was a three-time Livingston County First Team honoree and a three-time Evening Tribune First Team selection, earning Player of the Year and All-State honors during his senior season. Bassage led Hornell to back-to-back State Final Four appearances in 2002 and 2003. He was also a recipient of the gold medal at the Empire State Baseball Games. Following his graduation from Hornell, Bassage was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2016.
Bassage additionally served as the pitching coach for the Dansville Gliders of the New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL), helping the team capture the Western Division Championship during the 2024 season. Bassage was named head coach of the Gliders in 2025 and led the team to its most wins since the 2007 season while advancing to the Western Division Finals.
In 2026, Bassage guided the Gliders to the NYCBL Championship, the first championship in franchise history. Dansville finished the season with a 28-11 overall record, which was the best record in the NYCBL.
In May 2026, Bassage became CSCS (Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist) certified.
Bassage previously graduated from the University of Pittsburgh following an extensive playing career with the Panthers. A letterwinner, Bassage enjoyed a successful collegiate career as a relief pitcher. He earned his bachelor's degree in administrative justice in 2007.
