Peggy Shank officially joined the Alfred University equestrian staff as an assistant coach and riding instructor in August of 2016. Shank currently assists with the varsity western equestrian team. 

The ties for Shank to Alfred University date back to 2014, where she initially joined the program as a hunt seat instructor and assistant coach. In August of 2017, Shank began a two-year stint as the head coach of the hunt seat program with Alfred University.  

Shank spent two years as the Western Region 2 President for the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) from 2017-19, assisting other coaches with shows and guiding new teams to region. 

Both Peggy and Steve Shank are responsible for starting up Shank Quarter Houses in Youngstown, NY, where Peggy served as a manager, trainer and instructor. Shank was responsible for all business activities of training operations for over three years. 

Shank graduated from Alfred University in 2022 with her bachelor's degree in psychology, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She is expected to graduated with her master's in mental health counseling in May of 2024.
