William Sortore served as head coach of men's and women's cross country at AU from 2008-15, reassuming that position prior to the 2017-18 academic year. In addition to taking over the duties of cross country, Sortore served as the Head Coach of track & field from 2008-2017.

Sortore is a veteran coach at both the high school and collegiate levels. He was an assistant track and field coach at Monroe Community College (Rochester, NY) in 1986; was an assistant indoor and outdoor track and field coach at Houghton College in 1997 and 1998; and was an assistant cross country coach at Alfred State College in 1998 and 1999.

He is also a former high school wrestling and track coach in the Wellsville Central School District, where he is a middle school physical education teacher.

Sortore is a 1998 graduate of Houghton College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education. In 2006, he earned a master’s degree in education from Gannon University.
