Football Formally Announces the Russ and Jo Ann Cesari Victory Room

ALFRED, NY – Due to the generosity of Russ and Jo Ann Cesari, the Alfred University football program will begin the 2018 season with a new locker room to be named the Russ and Jo Ann Cesari “Saxon Victory Room.”

Following multiple upgrades to the AU Athletics locker rooms in recent years, Russ and Jo Ann Cesari have stepped up to make the major renovations on the football locker rooms possible. This renovation is just one of the many that will occur in the McLane Center this summer.

“The football program is unbelievably excited about the new locker room that is being put in this summer,” Head Coach Bob Rankl stated. “I can’t express my gratitude enough to Russ and Jo Ann for their efforts. They are both huge supporters of our football program and their generosity means so much to our current and future Saxons!”

The renovation of the football locker room to the Russ and Jo Ann Cesari Victory Room will include a complete overhaul of the current space. Following the project, there will be approximately 175 updated lockers spanning 1,500 square feet. Renovations to the restrooms and overall space are included in the project as well as adding a more privatized room with coded access.

The project will begin in late May or early June and be completed prior to the arrival of student-athletes on campus in August.

This renovation will be going on simultaneously with the updates to the Gibbs Fitness Center, the addition of a varsity weight room, athletic training rehabilitation center and athletic training classroom. It is among a series of updates to the AU Athletics facilities dating back to 2009 which have spanned from expansions to the Bromeley-Daggett Equestrian Center to the addition of the 33,000-square-foot Joyce and Walton Family Center for Health and Wellness and the complete renovation of the gymnasium in the McLane Center which was renamed the Galanis Family Arena due to the generosity of Terry Galanis and family.

“The Cesari family has long been a tremendous supporter of Alfred University and our football program and their latest display of generosity will be incredibly impactful in changing the day-to-day amenities for our Saxon football program,” Director of Athletics, Paul Vecchio, said. “Our locker room serves as a ‘home away from home’ for our football team and the Russ and JoAnn Cesari Victory Room will be a place where our football student-athletes will prepare to win both on and off the fields of play.”
