Before AU: Derse was a sprinter/jumper at Wayne Central in Ontario, NY under coach Tim Burlee...aided the Eagles to two Indoor Wayne Finger Lakes League Championships...named 2nd Team All-League in the 4x200m.

Personal:  Son of Kim and Pete Derse, Matt is a mechanical engineering major.
