ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University softball game versus Alfred State College that was originally scheduled as an exhibition game has now changed to an official doubleheader with game one being the Alfred Cup matchup on Thursday, March 26 at 3:00pm.
 
Game two will start at approximately 5:00pm.
 
Alfred University has earned points towards the Alfred Cup overall scoreboard following wins in women's soccer, volleyball, men's basketball, men's lacrosse and women's lacrosse. Alfred State has picked up points following victories in football, men's soccer, men's cross country and women's cross country. Each win earns two points and ties earn one point for the Alfred Cup competition.
 
The Alfred Cup competitions offer more than good fun rivalries, they're a powerful opportunity to unite the Alfred, NY community and to make a meaningful impact. Both athletic departments will lead community involvement and civic engagement initiatives at each Alfred Cup home event through the launching of the Community Outreach Program.
 
Fans, community members, alumni and the campus community can get involved in a number of programs.
 
Supporting Local Organizations
At each contest cash and/or pantry stable food donations will be collected. The proceeds and donated goods from these efforts will benefit two local organizations, reinforcing our shared commitment to service and camaraderie.
 
Donations during the 2025-26 Alfred Cup events will go to these community organizations:
Alfred Area Food Pantry (nonperishable food donations)
Alfred Almond Community Youth Sports Association (cash donations)
 
Fan Participation
At each contest, AU & ASC faculty, staff and alumni can sign up to win a grand prize. This is an attendance-based competition. Participants may submit one entry for each contest they attend, with each additional event attended increasing their chances of winning. The grand prize drawing will take place at the end of the school year. Stop by the Alfred University Alumni Relations tent to enter the contest.
 
AU & ASC Swag
At each contest AU & ASC will have merchandise for sale and/or give away.
 
In addition to this softball schedule change, the postponed doubleheader at Lycoming has now been cancelled with no makeup date.
