ALFRED, NY – A day after losing at St. John Fisher University, the Alfred University women's tennis team rebounded with a 6-1 win over SUNY Brockport on Saturday.

The match also marked Senior Day for Claire Lander (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) and Alina Zabihailo (Kyiv, Ukraine/Education Complex #143). Both were honored prior to the beginning of the contest.

"This was a great performance," Head Coach Jake Fisler said. "To come off a late-night match and get right back to it, the team rebounded very well and were able to do what they needed to get a victory. This was our senior day, so I want to give a shoutout to both our seniors, Claire and Alina, for getting wins in doubles."

The Saxons (6-3, 3-2 Empire 8) took two of three doubles matches. Zabihailo and Elizabeth Madsen (Portland, OR/Grant) won 6-3 at No. 1, marking Zabihailo's 30th career doubles victory. Allison Windisch (Pittsford, NY/Sutherland) and Alexis Gits (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit) won 6-4 at No. 3.
