ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's soccer endured a 1-0 loss to Nazareth University on Wednesday evening from Yunevich Stadium.

The Saxons (5-3-1, 1-1-1 Empire 8) defended 13 shots from the Golden Flyers (3-2-2, 1-0-1 Empire 8), while being credited with a pair of corner kick opportunities.

"Unfortunate result tonight," Head Coach Craig Yanni said. "Tough to play from behind. The coaching staff needs to put more work in to figure out how to put 90 minutes together and create more goal-scoring opportunities."

Alfred University was forced to play from behind following a goal from Nazareth in the 5th minute of action. The Saxons had their first corner kick opportunity take place later in the half, but a header from Lina Young (North Collins, NY/North Collins) went wide. The first shot on goal for AU belonged to Abby Scanlan (Albion, NY/Charles D'Amico) during the 31st minute. Kiani Barnard-Pratt (Westford, MA/Westford Academy) registered a pair of saves from the final seven minutes of the first half, but Nazareth went into the break with the lead. In the second half, Young was the lone Saxon to put a shot on target, as the Golden Flyers were able to run out the clock and come away with the win.

Alfred University will next travel to face Houghton University on Saturday at 2:00 PM.
