LANCASTER, PA – The Alfred University women's rugby team opened its 2025 schedule at the Frostbite 7's Tournament with a pair of losses and a tie.
 
The Saxons opened the day up with a 10-10 tie over the Wester Virginia University B-team on Sunday. Both tries were scored by Allison Parnes (New Hyde Park, NY/Homeschool). "I'm incredibly pleased with the growth our team has shown from last year," Head Coach Dr. Nicole Bernsen said. "We were able to challenge ourselves against some competitive teams this weekend and never stopped competing. This is a good start to our spring and it's exciting to see what lies ahead."
 
The last try of the day was scored by Aurora Berry (Perry, NY/Perry) in a 25-5 loss to Shippensburg University. The Saxons were swept by Temple University, 37-0 to end the day.
 
The Saxons will next host the Upstate New York Collegiate Rugby Conference (UNYCRC) Jamboree on Sunday, March 9.
