ALFRED, NY -- The Alfred University field hockey team ended its first ever season with a 2-0 loss to visiting Oswego State on Wednesday evening in Yunevich Stadium, making it the closest margin of loss of the season.

The Saxons (0-17, 0-10 Empire 8) ended their season with their most offensive output as they totaled a season-high seven shots with a season-high five on goal and tied for the most penalty corners taken, acting on five occasions. Six of the seven shots occurred in the fourth quarter as AU was led by Sydney Angelo (Windsor, NY/Windsor Central) and Annie Smith (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) with two shots on goal each. Smith added two more shots that were off target while Valérie Borg du Prie (Brussels, Belgium/European School Ixelles) tacked on one shot on goal.

Molly Howlett (Brockport, NY/Brockport) totaled 11 saves in goal while Izzy Santella (Middleport, NY/Royalton Hartland) recorded her first defensive save in her final game as a Saxon.
