ALFRED, NY - Carlos Gonzalez (Baja California, Mexico/Unifront) of the Alfred University men's swimming & diving team was named as the Empire 8 Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week, as announced on Monday. 

Gonzalez helped the Saxons continue their win streak, defeating Hobart College on Friday evening, winning all three of his events after having his fourth exhibitioned. He teamed with William LaMastus, Emiliano Terrazas and Emmanuel Drappatz to win the 200-yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:37.66. He broke yet another McLane Natatorium pool record, swimming a 2:06.54 in the 200-yard Breaststroke while clocking the fourth-fastest time in school history. Gonzalez also broke the one-minute mark in the 100-yard breaststroke, winning the event by almost four seconds, setting a time of 58.64.

Gonzalez and Alfred University will next compete at the University of Rochester Tri-Meet this weekend.
