ALFRED, NY - The Alfred University women's tennis team wrapped up Empire 8 competition with a 5-2 win over Houghton University on Thursday.
"This was a culmination of a season of hard work," Head Coach
Jake Fisler said. "They played like a team, sounded like a team, and won like one. Very proud of all of them for their hard work and effort."
The first win for Alfred University came from No. 1 doubles, with
Alyssa Seegert (Oroville, CA/Las Plumas) and
Becca Epping (Mitchell, IN/Bedford North Lawrence) winning in a competitive tiebreaker fashion. Epping rounded out her impressive afternoon with a 6-3, 6-3 win from No. 2 singles. Seegert additionally picked up a 6-4, 7-5 win from No. 1 singles.
Allison Windisch (Pittsford, NY/Sutherland) battled as part of a 6-3, 4-6, 10-5 victory from No. 3 singles. The final point for Alfred University came from No. 4 singles, with
Claire Lander (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) winning 6-4, 6-4.
