HILTON HEAD, SC - The Alfred University women's tennis team continued their Spring Break competition with a 5-4 loss to Johnson & Wales University on Wednesday from the Hilton Head Resort. 

"Today was all about fight," Head Coach Jordan Crouch said. "We got to show off our grit tonight. I couldn't be prouder of the effort that our team showed tonight. If a few balls bounce for us instead of against us, we come out victorious. We have one more chance on Friday for them to show what they're all about!"

The Saxons (10-5, 4-3 Empire 8) picked up their first point in No. 1 doubles action thanks to Macy Youngberg (Falconer, NY/Falconer Central) and Alina Zabihailo (Kyiv, Ukraine/Educational Complex #143) earning a 8-2 victory. Both Youngberg and Zabihailo rounded out their days with singles wins, with Zabihailo winning from No. 1 and Youngberg picking up a victory from No. 3 following three sets. Alexis Giordano (Lewiston, NY/Lewiston-Porter) played well from No. 4 singles, winning 6-4, 6-4.

Alfred University will wrap up their 2022-23 season against Allegheny College on Friday with matches set to begin at 8:30 AM.
