WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Alfred University women's tennis team returned to action for their first competitive match of the spring season, coming up short in a 6-3 loss to Lycoming College on Friday afternoon from Brandon Park.
"Today was a lot of fun to have both teams competing together again," Head Coach
Jordan Crouch said. "It was great to get the women back together and play a match. We battled through some elements and came out with a competitive result against a strong team. I can't wait for our next one against Oswego in a few weeks."
The Saxons (4-10) were competitive in their doubles efforts, as
Lauren Boshart (Oswego, NY/Oswego) and
Macy Youngberg (Falconer, NY/Falconer Central) came up short in a tiebreaker from No. 1.
Eve Liu (Yantai, China/Wilbraham and Monson Academy) picked up the first point for AU from No. 3 singles, winning 6-1, 6-2.
Alexis Giordano (Lewiston, NY/Lewiston-Porter) won her first singles match of the season from No. 5 in 6-4, 6-1 fashion. Boshart rounded out the afternoon for the Saxons, winning in two straight sets.
Alfred University will next compete against Oswego State on Sunday, April 10 at 1:00 PM.
