ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University men's swimming & diving team has now had three different athletes tabbed as Empire 8 Men's Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week for the 2022-23 season as
Emiliano Terrazas (La Paz, Bolivia/Saint Andrew's) earned the honor on Monday, as made official by Association Commissioner,
Joe Venniro.
Phillip Volaski (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) and
William LaMastus (Maumee, OH/Anthony Wayne) both earned the honor earlier this year. Volaski earned the recognition at the end of October while LaMastus was tabbed for the award to begin November.
Terrazas established himself as the top-scorer during the Ithaca College Bomber Invitational among Empire 8 competitors as he scored the sixth most points in the three-day meet. He tallied 97 points with only swimmers from Ithaca College, University of Rochester and Susquehanna University scoring more than him. Terrazas then teamed with Saxons for a sixth place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:37.19 and a seventh place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:28.86, once again, out-swimming both Empire 8 teams in attendance.
