ALBANY, NY- A rainy, low-scoring contest went in favor of #2 Sage Colleges, as they pulled out a 2-0 win over the Alfred University women's soccer team during the Empire 8 Tournament Semifinals on Thursday from ACP Stadium. The Saxons defended seven corner kicks successfully and drew nine fouls.

Alfred was led by sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Fuller (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks), who recorded seven saves on 18 shots faced.

"I thought the team battled to the best of their ability tonight," Head Coach Craig Yanni said. "We had a couple plays where we lost focus and it hurt us. All season we have struggled with injuries, but everyone stepped up to contribute."

A corner kick from Sage at the 8:34 found the back of the net, forcing Alfred into an early deficit. Each side remained scoreless for the rest of the half. The Gators scored once more in the second half, extending their lead over Alfred.

"This season really opened our eyes on what we need to focus on during the offseason," Yanni said. "We struggled in multiple areas that we will focus on moving forward."
