ALFRED, NY – The No. 1 seeded Alfred University women's soccer team and No. 3 seeded William Paterson University played to a tie on Sunday from Yunevich Stadium but the visiting Pioneers advance to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship game with the overtime shootout.
 
The Pioneers were the first on the board for the shootout with Sophia Carretto () tying it up with a shot to the top left corner of the goal. WPU responded with another made shot to the middle right of the net. Jacey Palmgreen (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) tied it up and it stayed at two successful shots each until eighth round of PK's when William Paterson's Hailey Krajewski got the advancing goal to the top right corner.
 
"This was an unfortunate way to end our season," Head Coach Craig Yanni said. "The coaching staff want to thank our seniors for everything they have done to help build and improve out program."
 
Both Hannah Fuller (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks) and the Pioneers' Erica Hickey made three saves during regulation but Fuller out-saved Hickey in PK's 4-3, despite the final outcome.
