Western Earns Morning Reserve and Evening High Point Team Accolades

ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University western equestrian team split a pair of shows with Alfred State College, earning High Point Team in the PM show and Reserve High Point Team in the AM show while A-State was the opposite on Saturday.

The Saxons opened the day with strong performances from Amber O'Toole (Simi Valley, CA/Simi Valley) and Patricia Kirk (East Longmeadow, MA/Minnechaug), both picking up blue ribbons in the open level. O'Toole claimed the open horsemanship while Kirk won open reining.

Megan Cochran (Brockport, NY/Kendall) and Jill Frazo (Bloomfield, NY/Bloomfield Central) both earned wins with Cochran winning the AM level two horsemanship and Frazo taking the level two ranch riding. Taylor Zlotek (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca East) won level one horsemanship before Charleigh Sumner (Redmond, WA/Lake Washington) won the second heat of rookie horsemanship. Megan Gilleece (Riverside, CA/Martin Luther King Jr.) earned the final morning blue ribbon in beginner horsemanship.

A-State was the high point team in the morning with AU right behind and Rochester Institute of Technology taking third.

In the evening show, Kirk earned a win in open reigning followed by Frazo for another level two win, this time in horsemanship. Maddy Sweet (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro Area) got top marks in level two ranch riding, closing out the level.

In level one, Emma Suplicki (Holland, NY/Holland) won horsemanship. Sumner then won the first heat of rookie horsemanship as David Jensen (Hobart, NY/South Kortright) closed out the day with a win in beginner horsemanship.

Kirk and Frazo tied for high point rider in the evening show with the tiebreak going to the judges, awarding Kirk high point and Frazo reserve high point. Cochran was the high point rider in the morning show while O'Toole claimed reserve high point.
