KEUKA PARK, NY – The Alfred University women's lacrosse team was on the road Tuesday afternoon to face off against the unbeaten Wolves of Keuka College. The Saxons (1-5, 0-1 Empire 8) fell to the Wolves by a score of 26-1.
Keuka was first to break through on the scoreboard just 30 seconds into the contest to make it 1-0.
Not even a minute later
Madison Latranyi (Danville, PA/Danville Area) scored her team leading 18
thgoal of the season to help the Saxons on the board and tie the game at one.
Taylor Miller (Medina, NY/Medina) assisted on the goal.
Unfortunately for AU, that was all the scoring they would get as Keuka rattled off 25 unanswered goals to improve to 6-0 on the year.
Miller finished with four ground balls, three caused turnovers and had two draw controls.
Paige Rowlee (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) played all 60 minutes in goal and finished with 11 saves, six ground balls and two caused turnovers.
"Today was a lesson in the importance of consistency," Head Coach
Erin McGaffigan said. "We are going to meet taller, faster and bigger teams but if we consistently deliver on what's controllable, then that doesn't matter. Every game requires a renewed commitment to be present and to play hard for each other. Today we didn't honor that commitment."
Alfred will get back into Empire 8 play this Saturday as they travel to Stevens Institute of Technology to take on the Ducks at 11AM.
